How It Works
Our St. Peter’s web site is hosted on a very large computer. In July, 2006, we developed a program that will send an email reminder every Tuesday to all persons who have assigned responsibilities the following Sunday. The emails are created automatically at 2 AM, a time when the server should not be busy.
The email addresses are stored in rosters on the computer in in a private directory (folder), completely outside of the public portion of our web site, protecting them from spammers. For the program to work properly we need:
- accurate schedules published on the web site
- an email address for each participant who wishes to receive a reminder
- the name on the schedule must be formed exactly like it is in the roster (The program looks at the name of a person on the schedule, then looks for that person in the roster to obtain the email address. Computers are actually pretty dumb and will not find a match if there is the slightest difference.)
The program is now working for the Altar Guild, bread bakers, Bread of Life (bread patrol), and men’s breakfast teams because these are the only activities for which we receive schedules.
Submit Your Email Address
I have also developed a form for submission of name, email address and activities. Click HERE to add yourself to the reminder program.
Hope you find this helpful —

Notice!! April 2008
Currently the only schedule submitted to the web-steward is that of the Men’s Breakfast Teams. The reminder program only works for those activites for which a schedule has been submitted.
