Confirmation 2022.png

Confirmation is a big step in a young person’s faith and commitment to the church community. Through a series of classes, service opportunities, and mentoring your student will learn basic foundations of the Episcopal church’s beliefs and theology, but it is also much more than that. Confirmation allows young people to experience faith in community, dig into hard questions, practice service, and build foundations for an authentic, real relationship with God. This group of students and their mentors grow as a community within itself and will continue encouraging and challenging one another long after confirmation ends. Confirmation is open to any student in 8th grade or above.

What can my student expect?

  • Regular worship attendance on Sunday morning

  • Class most weeks (schedule below) from 10:15 -11:30 am

  • Time spent with a mentor

  • Participation in group service projects

  • Participation in EYC activities

Community is the focus for this year’s confirmation class and regular attendance is expected along with that. A big part of confirmation is being involved in the life of the church because we have to be together to grow together. We also know that life is busy! Students can miss two classes and they will be asked to schedule a make-up session the following week.

How will I be involved as a parent?

Parents play one of the most important roles in faith formation in the lives of students but often wonder what exactly am I supposed to do? We highly encourage all parents to participate in the “parents of confirmands” group. This space will be informal and relationally focused as you navigate faith formation with your student. We will meet 4-5 times during the confirmation process during the same time the students are meeting.
