Trips & Events
During the year we take lots of trips and host various events. From pilgrimages around the world, skiing in West Virginia to confirmation class we have a lot of ways for students to be involved here at St. Peter's!
Middle School Mission Trip, Blue Ridge, NC
July 25 - July 30, 2021
Cost: $450 (Scholarships available)
Registration deadline: April 30
We will experience the great beauty of both people and nature in the scenic small towns that surround the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. By participating in children’s ministry, completing work projects, and supporting local ministries, we’ll make connections with the people of the area while addressing some significant needs. In the evenings, our group will explore the great outdoors, engage with community members, and end the week with a community cookout.
Students will serve through painting, cleaning, helping with yard work, or doing other simple work projects. We will also plan and lead children’s programming, including Bible lessons, games, crafts, and reading activities.
High School Mission Trip, Nashville, TN
June 13 - June 18, 2021
Cost: $450 (Scholarships Available)
Registration deadline: April 30
We will have a wide variety of opportunities to serve the Nashville community. We might serve the elderly, sort donations, work in community gardens, serve alongside food programs or hang out with children at local summer programs. In the evenings, your group will have the chance to explore downtown Nashville or spend time at Centennial Park, taking pictures at the Parthenon, playing ultimate Frisbee, or relaxing on the lawn.
Come hit the slopes with us! Each year over President's Day weekend in February we take a Ski Trip to Winterplace, West Virginia. We rent a house for our whole group and charter a bus for the drive. No experience necessary, you can be ready for a black diamond or just getting on the bunny slopes. All gear can be rented at the lodge.
Every other year, two confirmation classes (current and previous year's) combine for a spiritual pilgrimage abroad. The group fundraises for two years through poinsettia sales, a dinner series, and more. In previous years, we have gone to Ireland, Scotland, and Greece. Students who wish to participate in this journey must be baptized and confirmed, and make a commitment to this spiritual journey.
Each Spring the current 8th graders and any student in
9-12th grade gathers together weekly to explore our faith, ask questions, and build friendships as we consider what it means to express a commitment to Jesus. We end our time with a retreat at Camp Weed and where students can choose to be confirmed by the Bishop during Confirmation Sunday.
This year's class has already begun. If you wish to participate next year, please contact Jacob for more information about dates and times.
OWL (Our Whole Lives)
OWL is a curriculum that grounds itself in supporting and nurturing the sexual health of students. This program model teaches care, compassion, respect, and justice through a holistic approach that moves toward addressing attitudes, values, and feelings students have about themselves.
Age groups are divided into 5-6th grade, 7-8th grade, and 9-10th grade. We meet on Wednesday evenings in the Fall at 6 pm starting with a meal together before we break off into our age groups. Dates and times coming soon.
