The Reverend Canon John Tidy
Fr. John shares responsibilities for liturgy and preaching. While his accent immediately betrays his origins, John has lived in the States for almost 16 years, during which time he has served as rector of All Souls' Miami Beach, and more recently as Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Southeast Florida. John was ordained in the Church of England and served parishes in the Dioceses of Durham and Bradford before answering a call to Jerusalem, where he served as the Dean of Saint George's Cathedral for five years. He returned to England in 1997 and served as rector of a large parish in the southwestern suburbs of London, not far from Hampton Court.
In 2004 John returned to Jerusalem to serve as the interim Dean of Saint George's College and then again of the Cathedral. It was in Jerusalem that John met his bride Jill, who is an archeologist, and who continues to teach, research and write from their new home on Piney Island—which they share with Murphy, their black flat coat retriever.
