The Reverend Dr. Marcia King
The Reverend Dr. Marcia King was born in Knoxville, Tennessee but has lived in Jacksonville, Florida most of her life. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Florida. She was employed by Prudential Insurance Company for 27 years, retiring in 2001 as the Director of Sales and Marketing.
She was senior warden at Resurrection Episcopal Church when she felt the call from God to become a priest. Marcia attended Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, graduating in 2004. She was ordained by Bishop Howard in June 2004 and was called to St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi as assistant rector. In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, Marcia served the people of that area in leadership activities to support the parish, Diocese and community. In 2007, she was called to St. George's Episcopal Church in Nashville as associate rector and director of ministry.
Upon the birth of her grandson in 2012, Marcia and her husband John, retired to Fernandina Beach to be close to family in Jacksonville. She was called as Interim Rector at St Peter's on November 1, 2020.
