Youth - Believe.

Faith is a journey of asking questions, seeking understanding, and growing closerto God. Through Confirmation, retreats, pilgrimage, worship, and exploring Scripture and the Episcopal tradition, our youth discover what they believe and deepen their relationship with Christ. Explore ways to grow in faith together.

Youth Confirmation classes begin each January and meet on Sundays. Classes are open to current 8th graders to youth in 9th–12th grade who want to explore the possibility of Confirmation.Through Scripture, prayer, conversation, and study, students explore the Christian faith, the Episcopal tradition, and what it means to make a mature commitment to Jesus Christ. Along the way, they are invited to ask questions, deepen their relationship with God, and discern their own call to Confirmation.

The program also includes a Confirmation retreat with youth from other Episcopal churches throughout the diocese, offering students an opportunity to build community and grow in faith together.

Pilgrimage

Every other year, our current and previous year’s Confirmation classes come together for a spiritual pilgrimage abroad. Designed to be a minimal-tech experience, the journey invites students to step away from everyday distractions, experience another culture, and deepen their faith and relationships with one another.

Students spend two years preparing and fundraising through events such as our Lenten Fish Fry, Shrimp Fest parking fundraiser, and other opportunities. Past pilgrimage destinations have included Ecuador, Scotland, Greece, Spain, and Italy. Students who participate must be baptized and confirmed and commit to the spiritual journey, preparation, and fundraising involved.

If your student is interested in participating in Pilgrimage, please contact Mallory for more information.

Retreats

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to step away from the everyday and grow in faith and community through retreats, including Happening and New Beginnings at Camp Weed, as well as lock-ins, fellowship days, and other youth gatherings.

  • Happening is a weekend renewal retreat for led by youth for youth. 10-12th graders are invited to attend any of our three annual Happenings, and we invite 9th graders to join us for spring Happening, typically held in April.

  • New Beginnings (NB) is a renewal retreat for youth in grades 6-8.  It is led by high school youth, supervised by adults. NB is a weekend that explores friendships, family, and faith, and helps participants grow in their love of themselves, others and our Lord Jesus Christ.
