Plan Your Visit

If you’re thinking about visiting St. Peter’s, welcome. We know walking into a church for the first time can feel like a big step, so here’s a little of what to expect. Come as you are. We’re glad you’re thinking of joining us.

When do we gather? How do we worship?
Sunday worship is at 7:30, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m. The nursery opens at 8:45 a.m. and there is children's chapel during the 9:00 a.m. service. Afterward, join us for coffee hour in the parish hall.

We offer a wide variety of worship services that reflect the creativity and differences of our parishioners. St. Peters uses the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and the 1982 Hymnal, as well as the Lift Every Voice and Sing Hymnal. Our Folk Mass team has also developed a collection of hymns sung on the 2nd and 4th Sundays when they lead music.

What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable in. You’ll see everything from jeans to Sunday best, and nothing is expected of you.

Where are we, and where do I park?
We’re at 801 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. Park in back, behind the church, and look for the "St. Peter's Welcomes You" sign. Head through the courtyard and up the ramp to bring you to the Church doors facing Atlantic that is where you will be greeted and may enter! Accessible parking and entrance are available on the Atlantic street side of the church.

What happens when I arrive?
A greeter will welcome you and hand you a bulletin, and you can sit anywhere you like. We are a liturgical church, so worship includes prayers, readings from scripture, hymns, and spoken responses. People stand, sit, and kneel at different moments, and practices vary even among longtime Episcopalians. Watch the people around you, join in as much as you like, and don’t worry about doing it right.

Who may receive Communion?
Our worship centers on the Eucharist, and all baptized Christians are welcome to receive. Everyone is welcome at God’s table, wherever they are in their faith. If you’d rather not receive, you’re invited to come forward for a blessing, and just cross your arms over your chest.

What about children?
Children are not just the church of tomorrow. They are part of our parish family today, and wiggles and giggles are welcome. The nursery opens at 8:45 a.m. for ages 0–4. Children’s Chapel is for age 4 through fifth grade, during the 9:00 a.m. service, where children are blessed and sent to worship, learn, and play, then return to join their families for the Eucharist. All volunteers complete safe church training.
